Jubilee Theatre Volunteer Company
The Jubilee Theatre Volunteer Company serves as a support organization to the Harbourfront Jubilee Theatre in promoting the facility as an important community resource through active participation in the needed areas of the Theatre.

Objectives
To maintain the Volunteer Company in such a way as it will offer valuable service and support to the Harbourfront Jubilee Theatre users and community.

To promote volunteer efforts as an example of community pride felt for the Harbourfront Jubilee Theatre.

To allow volunteers to execute tasks by providing them with an environment of comfort, social interaction and learning opportunity.

To encourage volunteers to feel ownership of the Harbourfront Jubilee Theatre because of their contribution to the facility.

Volunteer Opportunities
Back of House
The show cannot go on without the work of stagehands and crew "behind the curtain". Their tasks range from scenery moving and looking after props during a performance, assisting performers, providing security and completing crucial pre-show errands. If you enjoy working behind the scenes and want to find out more about working in a stage production, then this is the crew for you.

Front of House
Members of this crew are people who like to work with the public. They can be found greeting theatre-goers at the entrance and as ushers in the front of the house, handing out programmes and helping people to locate the correct seat. There are also opportunities in the concession area selling refreshments and merchandise, or operating the coat check.

Communication/Administration
Opportunities exist for volunteers to do a number of tasks centered around administration, marketing, community development and communications. These people assist with newsletters and other mailouts, updating signage and other promotional tasks such as setting up displays, distributing posters and contributing ideas to promote the theatre and its events. The success of any theatre depends upon adequate marketing and quality communications with the local community.

Special Projects
These volunteers assist in the planning of receptions, fundraising projects, hospitality and catering, and special functions, from receptions to bottle drives!! Some favourite JTVC projects include our Christmas Decorating Event, semi-annual volunteer appreciation parties, and our annual "Win a Year Free at the Jubilee" fundraiser.

Volunteer FAQ
How much time does this involve?
The time you commit is up to you, according to your availability and interest. Some volunteers work a few events per year, while others participate in several shows a month.

How will I know what to do?
Orientation and training is arranged in the area that appeals to you before working your first show. Theatre staff and experienced volunteers will be on hand to help you become confident in your role.
