In 2004, The Jubilee Theatre renewed its mandate to nurture and develop the performing arts, and embarked on a mission to find a resident community performance troupe. The search led to the Kensington Theatre Company, a popular theatre group with some 13 years experience to their credit, who were looking for a stage to call their own. It was a meeting of minds and talent. The partnership between stage (theatre) and players (thespians) gave rise to the Jubilee Players, who, since their inception in early 2005, have consistently produced quality, entertaining community theatre. Productions such as Fools, Move Over Mrs. Markham, Steel Magnolias, and The Foursome have earned them multiple PEI Theatre Festival Awards and an ever-increasing following.
The Jubilee Players grounds the theatre to the community, as it offers the chance to participate and enjoy stellar amateur theatre by local performers in a professional setting. The Players welcome new talent in a multitude of areas, including acting, production design, stage management and stage work, promotion and marketing, sets, props, makeup and hair.
